Psychology is one of the human sciences that studies human mind and behavior. This science deals with various issues such as human growth and development, learning, personality, motivation, emotions, emotions, social relations, mental disorders and their treatment.
Psychology has a long history in Iran. Since the 9th century AH, there have been works of Iranian scientists in the field of psychology. One of these scientists, Abu Ali Sina, has discussed topics such as developmental psychology, educational psychology, and clinical psychology in his law book.
In the modern era, psychology in the country developed rapidly. In 1337, the Iranian Psychological Association was established and in 1353, the first Faculty of Psychology was established in Tehran University.
Today, psychology has become one of the most popular sciences. The number of psychology students in universities has increased and the number of psychologists and counselors is also growing.

Psychology works in various fields, including clinical psychology, educational psychology, industrial-organizational psychology, social psychology, cognitive psychology, and developmental psychology.
Clinical Psychology
Clinical psychology deals with the study and treatment of mental disorders. Clinical psychologists help people with mental disorders by using various treatment methods, including psychotherapy, drug therapy, and psychoanalysis.
Educational Psychology
Educational psychology studies human learning and development throughout life. Educational psychologists help to improve the learning process and education of people by using the knowledge of psychology.
Industrial-organizational psychology
Industrial-organizational psychology studies human behavior in the workplace. Industrial-organizational psychologists help improve employee productivity and job satisfaction by using psychological knowledge.

Social psychology studies human behavior in interaction with others. Using psychological knowledge, social psychologists help to better understand social relationships and solve social problems.

It is expected that in the future, the number of universities offering psychology will increase, the number of psychology students will increase, the number of psychologists and counselors will increase, the number of psychology journals and publications will increase, the number of psychology conferences and conventions will increase, and the public awareness about psychology will increase.

Challenges facing psychology

- Absence of a comprehensive system of psychology
- Lack of acceptance of psychology as an independent science in some circles
